Kevin Moran in running for Sports Ambassador role
Watermans Solicitors have launched a campaign to find its next Sports Ambassador, with a call to sports fans to help them identity unsung sporting heroes – from rising stars to those that work tirelessly to allow others to enjoy participating in sport.
Scottish Squash’s very own Kevin Moran has been selected as one of Watermans founding sports heroes and is in the running to be their next Sports Ambassador.
Kevin was part of Scotland’s bronze-medal-winning team at the 2016 European Team Championships and has competed at the Glasgow and Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
He has now moved on to senior performance coaching and becoming a development officer.
On a day-to-day basis, he introduces squash to kids and helps young athletes achieve their full potential.
Kevin aims to develop his coaching career to the fullest, implementing innovative ways to get kids across Scotland to enjoy the sport that has given him so much over the years.
2018 saw Kevin undertake a squash tour of Scotland on behalf of charity Lisa’s Gift.
The tour saw Kevin travelling across the country to play exhibition matches and holding coaching sessions with local players to raise money for the charity.
Later this summer, an all-star judging panel, including triple-Olympian and Commonwealth Games swimming star Hannah Miley and renowned boxing coach Terry McCormack, will meet with the list of selected nominees to create a final shortlist, who will compete to win the sporting public’s support in the final part of the Sports Ambassador search.
Watermans have a long-standing commitment to helping develop the next generation of Scottish sporting talent through its Sports Ambassador Programme.
Previous Ambassadors have included Hannah Miley, rally driver John MacCrone and reigning Scottish Women’s Premier League champions Glasgow City FC.
