Vacancy – Lead Coach, Junior Excellence Programme

Context:

Scottish Squash are the national governing body for squash in Scotland, and are currently working towards our strategic plan, “A Sport For Health”, where our main aims are to bring the ‘world’s healthiest sport’ and all of its benefits to as many people from as many backgrounds as possible.

Lead Coaches play a key role within the Junior Excellence Programme (JEP), SSL’s flagship junior development pathway.

SSL’s JEP provides a pathway for all junior players to progress through. This pathway provides junior players with the opportunity, within a national squad environment, to develop all areas of their game and supports them to improve and reach their potential.

The JEP plays an important role in ensuring the future of the sport in Scotland is strong, encouraging more young people to play squash and inspiring them to become full time senior athletes in the future.

Lead Coaches will look to provide a high quality coaching environment, working alongside SSL’s Performance Team and other Lead Coaches to provide the best experience possible for all junior players.

Purpose:

The aim of a Lead Coach is to provide quality coaching, at the JEP squad sessions, to the top young developing players across Scotland. This includes planning, delivering/coordinating the delivery and reviewing of the sessions. All sessions should follow and demonstrate the coaching principles and player development philosophy as set by the SSL Performance Team.

The role of a Lead Coach is not merely to coach squash sessions but to inspire coaches and players, support the growth of the game nationally and give the players the best possible experience.
