Springfield Scottish Squash Open 2023 set to hit new heights as tickets go on sale
Tickets for Scotland’s flagship squash event taking place in the Highland capital this September are now on sale, with this year’s event set to be the biggest yet.
The Springfield Scottish Squash Open 2023, with the continued support of Springfield Properties, one of Scotland’s leading home builders, will take place at Inverness Tennis and Squash Club from 20-24 September.
Building on the success of 2021, the capacity of the event has been expanded, with more tickets available than in any previous edition of the event.
Free tickets for young people (aged under 19 years old) will also be on offer on the first Wednesday of the event, to ensure that the next generation of squash players and fans are able to access the event.
The 2021 Springfield Scottish Squash Open reached new heights, with 46 players from 13 countries taking part, cheered on by hundreds of spectators.
With the support of EventScotland, the finals were streamed live on the BBC for the first time ever, raising the profile of the tournament and the sport across Scotland.
The players will compete for their share of a $20,000 prize fund, which will be split evenly between male and female players, as in all previous editions.
Highland squash fans will be hoping to see home-grown talent Alasdair Prott taking centre stage for the week, with the rising star having had a successful year on the PSA tour and when representing his country.
Allan McKay, Director of Development of Scottish Squash said: “We are thrilled to be returning to Inverness for the Springfield Scottish Squash Open in September, and we are hoping that this year’s event will be bigger than ever, building on the success of 2021.
“We have been able to increase the number of tickets for sale, and that along with our offer of free tickets for young people on the first Wednesday of the tournament is key to our aim of widening access to squash for all.
“Some of the best squash players in the world will be playing in the Highlands this September, so whether you are a big squash fan or just like live sport, this is an event that you won’t want to miss out on.”
