Scottish Squash seek Non-Executive Director (Performance Pathway) to support Olympic ambition
An opportunity has arisen to join the Scottish Squash Limited (SSL) Board as a Non-Executive Director, with a specific focus on the Performance Pathway.
The opportunity comes at an exciting time for the sport, as preparations continue for the Commonwealth Games in 2026 and for the Olympics in 2028 in Los Angeles.
That will mark a historic moment for squash, as it will be part of an Olympic Games for the first time – hailed as a transformational moment for squash by many within the game.
SSL is currently working to deliver its 2023-27 strategic plan “Together for Squash in Scotland”, which sets out a vision for a collaborative sport where stakeholders work together to ensure squash in Scotland continues to develop and thrive.
The Performance Pathway is a key strategic pillar within that plan, and the role of Non-Executive Director provides a great opportunity for a driven, team player to oversee the development of that pathway.
With an ambition to provide a clear path from the junior level to the elite level through high quality coaching and competition, this is a great opportunity to inspire and sustain Scotland’s squash players to be the best they wish to be.
Squash in Scotland is in the midst of a strong period of elite-level success, kicked off with a hugely successful World Doubles Championship hosted in Glasgow last year, which saw three podium finishes for Scottish pairs.
That was followed by Scotland’s first Commonwealth Games medals in 24 years as Greg Lobban and Rory Stewart secured a famous bronze in the men’s doubles in Birmingham in 2022.
With Greg Lobban having recently broken into the world’s top 20, and several Scottish players in the top 100, the Performance Pathway is crucial in supporting the development of world class athletes.
The Board position is ideal for individuals passionate about sport with an understanding of the needs of athletes at all stages of their development.
