Squads confirmed for U15 and U17 Euro Team Championships
The team selections for the European Under 15 and Under 17 Mixed Team Championships, taking place in Portugal this month, have been confirmed.
The young Scots will have the opportunity to challenge themselves against Europe’s top teams at the event which will run from Thursday 9th May to Sunday 12th May.
Twenty European countries will take part in the continent’s premier team squash event, with strong opposition guaranteed.
The under 15 squad is largely unchanged from the team which secured third place at the Five Nations in Cardiff last month.
Felicia Chan, Jamie Pearman, Phoebe Hamilton and Zack Paton remain in the squad, while 2023 British Junior Championship winner Thomas Myers joins.
Cailean McAlpine is added to the under 17 team to play alongside Archie Niven, Ella Bannister and Isla Hamilton, who will make her Scotland debut at the event.
Murdo Mackenzie is the final member of the team, fresh off his experience of representing Scotland in the under 19 European Team Championships held in Romania in March.
Scotland finished 8th in the Under 15 category last time out, and 15th in the under 17 category, and will be looking to make the most of the chance to compete at a high level.
Commenting on the selection, Scottish Squash Pathway Manager and Coach Kylie Lindsay said: “This will be a great week for the players getting to compete against the best players in Europe, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how they go.
“We have some good up and coming talents in the teams and most have played for Scotland previously so hopefully they can use that experience in their performances, and I know they will go out and give it their absolute all.”
