Partnership Opportunity to Deliver 2020 Springfield Scottish Squash Open
The 2nd Springfield Scottish Squash Open has been confirmed to take place from Wednesday 26th – Sunday 30th August 2020. Today (Wednesday 26th February), Scottish Squash are pleased to announce that they will be accepting bids from facilities and clubs across Scotland who are interested in partnering to deliver the 2020 event.
The event, which returned to the Professional Squash Association (PSA) calendar in April 2019 for the first time in 18 years, will again be delivered as a PSA Challenger 10 tour event offering equal prize money to both the men’s and women’s draws. The governing body is excited to understand which clubs and facilities across Scotland will come forward to discuss the chance of hosting a major event.
Scottish Squash Chief Executive, Maggie Still, said: “Scottish Squash is thrilled to have formed a partnership with Springfield Properties. The Springfield Scottish Squash Open will help to deliver our vision to inspire the next generation of players into our fun, exciting and fitness promoting sport.”
Scottish Squash Head of Coaching & Competitions, Allan McKay, added: “We’re extremely excited to move into year 2 of the event and provide the opportunity to facilities and clubs to express their interest to create a partnership with us to allow them to host the 2020 Springfield Scottish Squash Open. We will be encouraging any club and facility across the country who are interested to get in touch. The five day event can provide a perfect platform to engage wider programmes to promote and develop squash in the local area and also raise the profile of squash.”
Scottish Squash are still interested in partnering with further companies to link to the 2020 event and explore the opportunity to upgrade the competition to a PSA Challenger 20 event to further support our Scottish based athletes.
A copy of the full event information and process to apply to become the host facility or club in 2020 can be downloaded below. Completed applications should be submitted to Scottish Squash by 17:00 on Wednesday 25th March 2020.
