Scottish Squash announce plans for biggest celebration of squash in Scotland
Scottish Squash are delighted to announce plans for Love Squash Week, the year’s biggest celebration of the sport of squash across Scotland.
Love Squash Week will run from 1st-8th August, and will be a perfect opportunity for people across Scotland to get on court and give squash a try.
26 venues covering the length and breadth of Scotland have signed up – from the south, to the east and the Western Isles to Shetland.
Every club that has signed up will be running Try Squash sessions, and they will be encouraging new players to come along and try something new.
Leisure centres will also be joining in with the fun – offering reduced rates for play and equipment hire, opening doors for new people to give squash a go.
Clubs will also be providing opportunities for seasoned squash players to join in on the fun, with each club putting on a series of events to mark the occasion.
And Scottish Squash will be holding a competition to find the most engaged club over the course of the week, with a brilliant prize on offer for all.
Scottish Squash Director of Development Allan Mckay said: “Love Squash Week is all about harnessing the excitement of this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and using it as a platform to raise awareness of squash across Scotland.
Working in partnership with clubs and facilities, we hope that Love Squash Week can act as a national campaign to open squash up and provide opportunities to individuals in local communities to try squash. Clubs have all kinds of activities planned from taster sessions, coaching opportunities or even coming together to support Team Scotland, there’s a real buzz growing for a fantastic summer of sport.
Whether you’re regularly involved in squash or never stepped on court, make sure to get along to your local club between the 1st – 8th August and get involved.”
