Scottish Squash welcome Ewan and Ellie to the team
Scottish Squash is delighted to announce the appointment of Ewan McArthur to the position of Membership Engagement Officer and Ellie Jones as Club Development Manager (Women and Girls).
Ewan arrives from Scottish Cycling where he spent two years working as Club Development Coordinator, and will look to continue to improve and enhance the member experience.
Ewan said: “I’m excited to be working in a new sport, and excited about the opportunity to get involved in work across all areas of the organisation.
“I want to improve membership services as best as I can, and I’m looking forward to working with clubs and individuals across Scotland to support the growth of the game.
“On a personal note, I’m hoping to become a more competent squash player and look forward to learning more about the sport by picking up a racket and playing it.”
Ellie will need little introduction to Scotland’s squash fans, as a professional player and a member of the women’s team that competed at the European Teams Championship in Switzerland last year.
Ellie said: “This role combines my two passions which are intersectional feminism and squash, which are both really important to me.
“Having grown up being the only girl in a male dominated squash environment, I hope that I will be able to tap into my personal experience to get more girls playing squash.
“It would be great to get more women involved in the sport in general – for example in refereeing, volunteering and coaching – and to create more of a gender balance across the sport.”
Garry McKay, Scottish Squash Interim CEO said: “We are delighted to welcome Ewan and Ellie to the team.
“They both bring a brilliant range of experiences which will add a lot of value to the organisation, and both are passionate about growing the sport of squash.
“We look forward to working together to support the continued growth of squash in Scotland.”
